We all know Vijayakanth passed away on 28th December 2023 due to health reasons. He is one of the biggest commercial actors of Tamil film industry and the second mass following actor from Tamil Cinema to start a political party after MGR. He is known for revolutionary movies in Tamil Cinema and many of his movies used to be released in Telugu dubbed version. Eventhough he is not successfull as Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan in Telugu, his movies had a great following in the past.
Vijayakanth dubbed movies like ‘Police Adhikari’, ‘Captain Prabhakar’, ‘Sindhurapoovu’, ‘Noororoju’ and ‘Chatriyudu’ and others minted gold at the Telugu box office and gained him a following among Telugu viewers in 80’s and 90s. Also, his action films garnered good no.of footfalls in the B & C centre in united AP since most of his films were mass-centric entertainers and village-based movies.
Vijayakanth’s movies were also remade by Telugu big heroes like Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh and Dr Rajasekar and got success. Chiranjeevis Tagore is the remake of Vijaykanth’s Ramana which is a biggest Hit in Kollywood.
Vijaykanth was born and boughtup in Madurai, Tamil Nad but there is a strong buzz in Tamil Nadu that Vijaykanth ancestors hails from Telugu states.
Vijaykanth acted in more than 20 films as a Police officer and almost all are dubbed in Telugu with various titles gained great response from here too.
Many of the Tamil audiences compare Vijaykanth to Balakrishna Nandamuri because both of them having huge fan following from masses.
In the year 1984, 18 films of Vijaykanth released into Theaters and most of them are successful.
